Google Messages is the official Google app for messaging for texting, sending photos, videos, or voice messages. Meanwhile, Google is working on a new and important feature for its Messages app, which will soon let you “Delete for everyone” to RCS chats.

Currently, deleting an RCS chat only disappears from your device, , but the person you sent it to can still see it. This will change because, with an upcoming update, you will be able to delete RCS chats for everyone just like WhatsApp.

The “Delete for everyone” feature has been spotted in an APK teardown of the Google Messages app version 20250131_02_RC00 via Android Authority. The code found in the app shows that Google is working to add new deletion capabilities for RCS chats.

With the latest version, the source found there will be two options for deleting messages – Delete for everyone and Delete for me. These new features track the new RCS Universal Profile v2.7, which was announced in June 2024.

Google Messages “Delete for everyone” option name suggests that it will delete the message from both your phone and the recipient’s phone. If you select “Delete for me,” it will only delete the message from your device, and the recipient will still be able to see it.

Just like WhatsApp, Google Messages notifies recipients when a sender deletes or attempts to delete a message, which could be a point of contention for users who prefer more discretion.

The latest Google Messages code shows that this new feature is being actively developed and is expected to roll out in the coming months.

According to an earlier report, Samsung Messages on Galaxy S25 series smartphone running on T-Mobile and Verizon support RCS. This is good news for those who prefer Samsung Messages over other messaging apps including Google Messages.
