Samsung has started rolling out the February 2025 security patch worldwide. In this month, Samsung has announced a surprise software update term for the Galaxy S21 series. Now the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra will receive quarterly updates.

The company decided the Galaxy S21 series will no longer support monthly security patches. They will get software updates every three months. However, the Galaxy S21 FE is not listed in this update.

Galaxy S21 New Update Policy

The Galaxy S21 series was launched on 14 January 2021, and the Galaxy S21 series has received four years of major Android OS updates and five years of security patch updates. The series will get its last and latest Android 15 based on the One UI 7 update, which will be received soon. However, One UI 7 is still in beta phase.

Notably, the Galaxy S21 series will get monthly updates till January 2026, but it seems the company has decided its last year of monthly updates on a quarterly basis. It means the monthly update will roll out in three months, four times to complete the schedule update.

One UI 7 Update

Apart from this, the One UI 7 update is running stable only for the Galaxy S25. The Samsung Galaxy S25 series launched at the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event in January 2025. The pre-order of the device has been started from the same day, and its first sale will be on February 7.

The Galaxy S25 series includes the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra; however, it was expected that a new model of the S25 series could be seen in this event, but it didn’t happen. But Samsung is preparing for the Galaxy S25 Edge, which has a slim design compared with S25 series models.

According to the reports, the device may come with a dual camera setup: a 200MP wide and a 12MP ultra-wide camera setup. Its display size could have a 6.67-inch AMOLED, 120Hz refresh rate with HDR10+ support. It will launch in April 2025. Hence, we will see all the specifications and features soon.
