Samsung has done a great job in the software department. The company has taken many essatial steps towards developing an ideal system to distribute updates to its devices; one of these steps was to apply a significant software policy where the company predecided how many software updates should be available for each device.
For example, back in 2022, the company officially confirmed that it will provide five or four years of software updates to select devices. More specifically, in this policy, the company has selected midrange or entry-level smartphones under the four years of software updates.
Meanwhile, for the flagship devices, it will provide five years of software update support. Now with the latest development, the company has updated the software update policy.
Samsung updates software update policy to seven years
Last year, Samsung officially introduced the seven-year software update policy for the Galaxy S24 series devices, and then it expanded it to more devices, including the Galaxy S24 FE, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 devices.
Meanwhile, for midrangers, the company may follow the six-year software update policy, such as it has introduced in the Galaxy A16. So it indicates that the company follows the same strategy for the upcoming devices according to their segment.
More specifically, the devices coming in the Galaxy S series and Galaxy Z series will get software support upto seven years, while the midrange series devices in the Galaxy A/M/F will get software support for six years.
